Rest in Peace
AOW #21-Responding to "Florida student: They told us: 'Hands up. Drop anything in your hands.'" By Will Gilroy
They were among the 17 people killed by a gunman Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. A football coach. An athletic director. And young, eager and forward-looking students. How are we, as a country, going to stop those horrible acts of violence from occurring at our children's schools and ensure they have a safe environment to be able to learn? We could argue full gun control and ban of the right to bare arms should be illegal and that it would stop gun violence and massacres altogether. However, for example, driving while intoxicated is illegal for the most part, yet people still continue this act, despite the consequences or lives being put at risk. Robbing a bank is illegal, yet there a thousands of criminals a day that continuously rob banks regardless. On the other hand, I do believe we need to take some sort of action to prevent my generation and other kids from experiencing these horrid events and come to some sort of resolution before more lives can be lost. Let us take action as a country, united and ready for the next obstacle to overcome us. Rest in peace to all the 17 lives lost at Stoneman High.
