CNBC reporter, Sam Meredith, in his report about WWE titled,'WWE experimenting with virtual reality' (November 7, 2017), reveals that the WWE franchise may be considering virtual reality to prove to be a perfect fit for the business. He supports his reveal by quoting former WWE superstar and general manager of the franchise, Triple H at his Speaking at the Web Summit technology conference in Lisbon, Portugal. Triple H basically states "In some ways, it is kind of custom-made for what we do and I think as the technology improves it will get better and better." He's saying that they're basically going to try conducting virtual reality trials in order to try and bring every fan ringside seats to Wrestlemania. Although, Triple H said virtual reality was "wide open" for the franchise to explore and develop, he thinks that WWE would still need to understand how to make the best use of the technology.
In conclusion, Meredith's purpose is to report and reveal WWE''s consideration of being open to expanded their company technologically by applying virtual reality to their shows in order to gain more viewers. He adopts a factual tone for WWE fans who want to know WWE's purpose for wanting to use virtual reality in order to provide them with that information.
